I’m delighted to announce that two of my plays have been selected for production by amateur dramatic societies this summer. It’s especially gratifying to see these works taken up by community theatre groups, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how each company brings its own interpretation to the stage.
In May, Swanmore Amateur Dramatic Society are putting on ‘Bats’, a dark tale of a couple living in a quiet suburban cul de sac who discover a horde of bats in the attic of their bungalow. Expecting a visit from a bat exterminator from the local council to deal with the matter, they sit poised for the doorbell to ring. A succession of people arrive, all of whom are mistaken for the bat person. What follows is a lively blend of farce and black comedy.

‘Bats’ premiered in 2022, when I directed it as the Jávea Players’ summer show in the casa de cultura. I was blessed with a great cast who gave their all, as can be seen in the photo below.

In July, Brantham Amateur Theatrical Society are staging my 1950s-set amateur sleuth spoof, ‘Look Out – He’s Got A Gun!’

I directed the first production back in 2019 and it was amazing fun with the cast doubling – sometimes even trebling up – in the various roles, which included a Spanish singer, a mad scientist and a dodgy nightclub owner.

Both of these plays – along with a dozen others that I have written – are available to license for both amateur and professional theatre groups from https://www.stagescripts.com/
